Emanuel Flutes
By appointment only
Founded by master flute maker Emanuel Arista, Emanuel Flutes is a Boston-based workshop specializing in handcrafted professional flutes built entirely by a single maker.
Every instrument is individually designed, constructed, and finished by Arista himself, from the body and mechanism to the headjoint and final adjustments.
Emanuel Flutes are recognized for their exceptional tonal complexity, projection, responsiveness, and mechanical refinement.
Drawing inspiration from both historical flute-making traditions and decades of modern acoustical research, Arista continuously refines his designs to create instruments capable of meeting the demands of today’s leading performers. Particular attention is given to scale design, mechanism precision, tonal balance, and the relationship between the flute body and headjoint as a unified acoustic system.
A defining characteristic of Emanuel Flutes is the workshop’s commitment to innovation through craftsmanship. Emanuel Arista is known internationally for his exploration of precious metals and advanced flute design, including the creation of the first solid 22K gold flute headjoint.
His instruments are available in a variety of precious metals and custom configurations, allowing performers to select combinations that support their individual artistic goals.
Emanuel Flutes are played by professional soloists, orchestral musicians, educators, and collectors worldwide. Notable artists associated with Emanuel Flutes include Stefán Ragnar Höskuldsson, Principal Flutist of the Berlin Philharmonic, Karl-Heinz Schütz, Principal Flutist of the Vienna Philharmonic, Robert Langevin, Principal Flutist of the New York Philharmonic, Scott Kemsley, Principal Flutist of the New York City Ballet, Stephanie C.Mortimore, Principal Piccolo of the Metropoliten Opera Orchestra, and many others.
In recognition of exceptional craftsmanship and innovation, Emanuel Flutes received the Flute Maker of the Year 2024 award at the inaugural Global Flute Excellence Awards, announced in January 2025.
