ABOUT SIR JAMES GALWAY
Sir James Galway is one of the most celebrated and influential flutists in history. Internationally known as “The Man with the Golden Flute,” he has captivated audiences worldwide through his extraordinary virtuosity, expressive artistry, and charismatic performances.
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Galway performed with some of the world’s leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic under Herbert von Karajan, before establishing a groundbreaking international solo career. His extensive discography spans classical, contemporary, and popular repertoire, making him one of the best-selling classical artists of all time.
Beyond his achievements as a performer, Sir James has dedicated much of his career to education, mentorship, and the advancement of the flute. Through masterclasses, recordings, publications, and educational initiatives, he has inspired generations of flutists across the globe.
Knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2001 for services to music, Sir James Galway remains one of the most recognizable and respected ambassadors for the flute.
