Wilhelm Hansen
Wilhelm Hansen is one of Scandinavia’s oldest and most influential music publishers. Established in Copenhagen in 1857 by engraver Jens Wilhelm Hansen and his wife Hanne Hansen, the company began as a family business before expanding into music publishing. Over more than 165 years, Wilhelm Hansen has built an international reputation for publishing classical, educational, chamber, orchestral, vocal, and contemporary music while representing many of the Nordic region’s most distinguished composers.
In 1988, Wilhelm Hansen became part of Wise Music Group and today serves as the group’s Scandinavian division. Despite its international ownership, the company continues to operate under the historic Wilhelm Hansen imprint. Managing Director Loui Törnqvist, a sixth-generation member of the Wilhelm Hansen family, continues the publisher’s longstanding tradition of supporting composers, performers, educators, and music institutions throughout Scandinavia and beyond.
