ABOUT THE BABEL FLUTE

The Babel Flute was an International Flute Magazine and Community — a groundbreaking multilingual platform uniting flutists from around the world. Founded by Yulia Berry and Onorio Zaralli, the project launched in 2021 and quickly became one of the most innovative online flute resources in history.

The platform offered instant translation into over 100 languages, providing global access to flute research, interviews, educational games, job boards, classifieds, and community forums — all for free.

Within just three years, The Babel Flute published 11 editions, featuring 94 contributors from 30 countries and generating over 3.5 million views worldwide.

The Babel Flute’s mission was to connect, educate, and inspire by providing a space where flutists of all backgrounds could share knowledge, collaborate, and celebrate the instrument’s global culture.

Events: The Babel Flute Days – Global Flute Conventions in 2022 and 2023

2023 edition featured 400 registered guests and 110 events, becoming the largest online flute event in history

Legacy

Though the project concluded in March 2024, Yulia Berry continues to preserve The Babel Flute’s website as an open archive for its exceptional articles and resources.

In August 2024, she launched Flute Almanac, an advanced global platform continuing The Babel Flute’s mission with expanded features, deeper integration, and a modern, multilingual ecosystem uniting the flute world.

Accessibility

The Babel Flute was the first and only flute platform offering a built-in accessibility menu for users with low vision, allowing adjustments to contrast, font size, and background color — all compatible with the multilingual translation feature.
