Educated at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he received top distinctions in composition, de Gérando also holds a doctorate, accreditation to supervise research, and advanced training in computer science from IRCAM. His achievements have been recognized through numerous honors, including the Stipendienspreis International Prize at the Darmstadt Festival of Contemporary Music and awards from SACEM and other leading cultural institutions.
His catalog includes more than 130 works ranging from solo instrumental compositions to orchestral, electroacoustic, multimedia, and large-scale interdisciplinary projects. Since 2006, much of his creative activity has centered on Labyrinth of Time, an ambitious polyartistic and technological project that integrates music, visual art, digital media, scientific research, immersive environments, and performance into a continuously evolving artistic universe.
Alongside his work as a composer, de Gérando is an active researcher and author whose publications address contemporary composition, aesthetics, creativity, algorithmic systems, and digital technologies. Through his compositions, writings, installations, and collaborative projects, he has established himself as one of the most original and intellectually adventurous voices in contemporary music.
His flute-related works include Morphilude, a major cycle for flutes, real-time electronics, and fixed sounds performed by Matteo Cesari, further demonstrating his commitment to expanding the expressive possibilities of contemporary flute performance.
