ABOUT SHIGENORI KUDO

Shigenori Kudo is an internationally acclaimed flutist, educator, and recording artist whose career has spanned decades of distinguished performance, teaching, and artistic leadership. Renowned for his luminous tone, technical brilliance, and refined musical expression, he is widely regarded as one of the leading flutists of his generation.

Born in Sapporo, Japan, Kudo studied at the Toho Gakuen School of Music before continuing his education at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he earned the prestigious Premier Prix under the guidance of Jean-Pierre Rampal. His international career was launched through major competition victories, including First Prize at the Paris International Flute Competition and First Prize at the inaugural Jean-Pierre Rampal International Flute Competition.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Kudo has performed in more than 180 cities around the world, appearing with distinguished artists, orchestras, and festivals across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. His extensive discography of more than seventy recordings has received numerous awards and reflects his commitment to both traditional and contemporary repertoire.

Alongside his performing career, Kudo is deeply dedicated to education and mentorship. Through masterclasses, teaching appointments, and international educational activities, he has influenced generations of flutists and contributed significantly to the development of flute performance worldwide.
