PWM Edition, known in Polish as Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne, is Poland’s oldest and largest music publishing house and one of the country’s most important institutions for the preservation and promotion of Polish music.
Founded in Kraków in 1945 by violinist, educator, and publisher Tadeusz Ochlewski, PWM was established shortly after the Second World War to rebuild Poland’s musical publishing culture and make important repertoire available to musicians, schools, orchestras, and concert institutions. Promoting Polish music has remained central to the publisher’s mission throughout its history.
PWM Edition publishes classical, contemporary, educational, film, and jazz music, together with scholarly books, critical editions, reference works, and performance materials. Its catalog includes music by many of Poland’s most influential composers, including Fryderyk Chopin, Karol Szymanowski, Grażyna Bacewicz, Witold Lutosławski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Wojciech Kilar, and numerous contemporary composers.

Legacy
For more than eighty years, PWM Edition has played a central role in documenting, preserving, and disseminating Polish musical heritage. The company published early scores by composers including Witold Lutosławski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Grażyna Bacewicz, and Wojciech Kilar, helping their music reach performers and institutions in Poland and abroad.
