ABOUT MARCO GAUDINO
Marco Gaudino is an Italian flutist, researcher, educator, and author internationally recognized for his pioneering work on the physiology of flute playing and the science of sound production. His research has contributed significantly to the understanding of breathing, vocal cord function, and the physical mechanisms involved in flute and wind instrument performance.
A professor within Italy’s Ministry of Education, Universities, and Research (M.I.U.R.), Gaudino has dedicated much of his career to bridging scientific investigation and artistic practice. His studies, supported by leading Italian phoniatricians, have provided valuable insights into the role of the vocal cords in flute performance and have influenced performers, educators, and researchers worldwide.
He is the author of influential publications including Nuova ipotesi sulla produzione del suono nel flauto traverso (New Hypothesis on Sound Production in the Transverse Flute) and Suono Pensando (Thinking Sound). In addition, he has developed educational software and innovative tools designed to enhance flute instruction and sound production.
As Director of Research for Flute Almanac, Marco Gaudino leads initiatives that connect scientific research, pedagogy, and performance. As Chair of the Judging Panel for the Global Flute Excellence Awards, he brings extensive expertise, intellectual rigor, and a commitment to excellence that supports the advancement of the international flute community.
