About the Competition
Founded in 2008, the International Maxence Larrieu Flute Competition is one of Europe’s leading international competitions for young professional flutists. Held every four years in Nice, France, it honors the legacy of the legendary French flutist Maxence Larrieu, whose artistry and teaching profoundly influenced generations of performers around the world.
Organized by the Association À Travers la Flûte, the competition celebrates the rich tradition of the French flute school while encouraging artistic individuality, technical excellence, and expressive musicianship.
Open to outstanding young flutists from around the world, it attracts competitors seeking international recognition before a distinguished jury composed of renowned performers, orchestral musicians, and pedagogues.
The competition consists of several demanding rounds, culminating in a final that showcases the highest levels of technical mastery and artistic interpretation. Beyond monetary prizes, laureates benefit from increased international visibility, valuable professional experience, and opportunities to launch or further develop international performing careers.
Since its inaugural edition, the International Maxence Larrieu Flute Competition has welcomed many of today’s most accomplished young flutists.
