ABOUT ENRICO SARTORI

One of the most distinguished Italian flutists to emerge from the celebrated generation of virtuosi of the past decade, Enrico Sartori has established an active and respected presence on both the American and European concert stages. A laureate of numerous international competitions, he made his solo debut at Carnegie Hall in 2009 after winning the Artist International Competition. His performance at Weill Recital Hall was met with a unanimous standing ovation.

Sartori currently serves as Professor of Flute, Director of Orchestral Activities, and Professor of 20th-Century Music History at the Conservatory of Music of Northeast Normal University in Changchun, China.

Alongside his academic work, he maintains an intensive international career as a soloist and is deeply committed to contemporary music, having premiered numerous new works.

He has appeared as concerto soloist with orchestras including the Orchestra Sinfonica della Valle d’Aosta (Italy), Kaliningrad Philharmonic Orchestra (Russian Federation), Chamber Orchestra Dumitrescu (Romania), Maribor Festival Orchestra (Slovenia), and the Wayne Chamber Orchestra (USA), among others.

As an orchestral musician, Sartori has held principal flute positions with leading European ensembles, including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (2015), Opéra National de Lyon (2014, France), Philharmonic Orchestra of Turin (2013–2014, Italy), Italian Philharmonic Orchestra (2013–2017), and Harbin Symphony Orchestra (2018–2019). He has also collaborated with Teatro Massimo of Palermo (2014–2015, Italy) and the BBC National Orchestra (2010, UK). In 2003, he served as principal flute at the Academy of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan under the direction of Riccardo Muti.

Enrico Sartori earned his Master’s degree from Yale University in 2005 and his Doctorate from Stony Brook University in 2011.

His principal teachers include Carol Wincenc, Ransom Wilson, and Patrick Gallois.

His discography includes several recordings, and his performances have been broadcast internationally on major television networks, including the BBC, Russia 1, Mir, RAI Italian Television, Fox Channel 5, and RTV Slovenija.
