Almeida Headjoints were handmade by American flute maker Edward “Ed” Almeida as part of his independent workshop established in 1969. Produced in limited numbers, Almeida headjoints are recognized for their careful craftsmanship and remain sought after by flutists who appreciate the American tradition of handmade flute making.

Edward Almeida began his flute-making career in 1948 as an apprentice to Verne Q. Powell and later became a part owner of the Powell company. After establishing his own workshop, he produced both complete handmade flutes and matching headjoints, applying the same meticulous standards of precision and hand-finishing throughout the manufacturing process.

Almeida headjoints were handcrafted primarily from sterling silver, with gold options also available, and were designed to complement Almeida flutes while remaining compatible with many other professional instruments. Their limited production has made original Almeida headjoints relatively rare, and they continue to be used by professional musicians and collectors.

Edward Almeida passed away in 1992, ending production of Almeida headjoints. His work remains an important part of the history of American handmade flute making.
