Dear Flutists Around the World,
Whether you’re teaching in a remote village, composing music in a language your conservatory never recognized, or simply practicing in silence because there’s no one nearby who shares your passion – we see you.
At Flute Almanac, our goal is not just to showcase excellence in its most polished form – but to celebrate authenticity, diversity, and global connection. We created the Directory and our growing platform not just for the stars of today, but for those whose voices aren’t always amplified.
We know that being “underrepresented” can mean many things:
- Living in a country where classical music infrastructure is limited or nonexistent
- Navigating flute life as an independent artist without institutional support
- Representing a cultural tradition that isn’t recognized in Western conservatories
- Being part of a marginalized gender, racial, linguistic, or socioeconomic group
- Simply feeling like an outsider in a world that often celebrates sameness over difference
But we also want to be honest:
We’ve built Flute Almanac and the Directory with immense care and personal resources, and while we deeply wish to support everyone, we also know that sustainability requires balance. Unfortunately, we’ve occasionally seen our offers of support misinterpreted or taken for granted.
So here’s our promise – and our ask:

We offer complimentary (no-fee) listings in the Flute Almanac Directory for eligible flutists, organizations, and projects – for those who genuinely need them. These are not handouts – they’re invitations to contribute to a more inclusive global flute narrative. Your voice matters, and your presence strengthens us all.
📩 Our Ask:
1. If you are in a position to support others, please consider sponsoring a listing, donating, or simply spreading the word.
2. If you’re applying for a scholarship, please do so mindfully, with integrity and openness about your circumstances.
- What’s covered: A standard Directory listing at no charge.
- Term: 12 months, with the option to reapply.
- Selection considerations: Financial need, community impact, underrepresented regions/voices, and alignment with our mission.
- Acknowledgment (optional): Recipients may choose to display a small note on their listing such as “Flute Almanac Sponsored Listing” to recognize their participation in this support program.
3. How to Apply: Send a short note to flutealmanac@gmail.com with your name/organization, website or socials, and a few lines about your work and why a complimentary listing would help.
