Developed by Dutch maker Maarten Visser, the Flutesteady and Flute Cradle are ergonomic accessories designed to improve comfort, balance, and accessibility for flutists. Both products stem from FluteLab’s long-term research into the ergonomics of the Boehm flute and adaptive wind instruments.

Flutesteady is a left-hand support that attaches securely to the flute body, reducing hand strain and supporting relaxed posture. It distributes weight evenly, assisting players who experience muscle tension, joint pain, or hypermobility.

Flute Cradle offers broader support, providing a stable, body-mounted rest that helps sustain the instrument’s position without relying solely on the hands. It is especially useful for players with limited arm mobility or shoulder injuries.

Both supports are handcrafted in lightweight metal and polymer materials and can be adjusted for individual fit and comfort. They are compatible with standard Boehm-system flutes and can be used in combination with FluteLab’s ergonomic headjoints.

Flutesteady and Flute Cradle provide practical solutions for flutists seeking to reduce physical tension or adapt the instrument to their individual needs — whether for injury prevention, rehabilitation, or inclusive music-making.
