The Marmara Flute Orchestra (MFO), founded in 2015 by Prof. Dr. Ece Karşal, is the first orchestra in Türkiye to feature all members of the flute family, from piccolo to contrabass flute.
Based at Marmara University’s Faculty of Fine Arts in Istanbul, the orchestra brings together professional flutists, educators, accomplished amateurs, and students of all levels, creating a vibrant and unique soundscape.
MFO has quickly risen to international prominence, performing in distinguished venues across Türkiye and abroad. The orchestra is particularly dedicated to promoting Turkish composers, often giving world premieres of their works.
