Valerie Teresa Walter was honored as Emerging Artist of the Year 2024 in recognition of her extraordinary versatility, artistry, and achievements as a flutist.
Through her leadership as a principal flutist and her captivating solo performances, Valerie consistently demonstrated technical brilliance and emotive expression. Her artistry has earned her a place among the most promising flutists of her generation.
Earned her Bachelor of Music at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf (Prof. Evelin Degen) while completing professional military musician training with the German Army, performing on alto flute, piccolo, and solo flute with the Ausbildungsmusikkorps der Bundeswehr.
Appointed Principal Flutist of the Heeresmusikkorps Veitshöchheim in 2014, where she also re-established and leads the orchestra’s woodwind quintet.
Awarded the Mancke Piccolo Headjoint Award at the Galway Flute Festival (2016); First Prize, Syrinx Flute Competition at the eFlute Festival, London (2020); and Sir James Galway Rising Star Award (2020).
Performed extensively across Europe and internationally — including in the Netherlands, Georgia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Djibouti, Moldova, Austria, Italy, the UK, and France.
Completed masterclasses with renowned teachers such as Sir James & Lady Jeanne Galway, Yossi Arnheim, Robert Dick, Michael Faust, and Anna Garzuly.

Valerie Teresa Walter is a German flutist known for her leadership and expressive artistry.
Beginning flute at age nine, she advanced quickly, earning a Bachelor’s degree in flute while completing professional military music training.
As principal flutist of Heeresmusikkorps Veitshöchheim since 2014 — and director of its woodwind quintet — she has excelled in both ensemble and solo roles. An international competition winner and young rising star, Valerie continues to inspire audiences worldwide.
